This Privacy Policy explains how Tenant Tree collects, uses, and shares information when you use our property management platform for owners, managers, and tenants, including our web and mobile apps.
Information We Collect
- Account information: name, email address, role (owner, manager, tenant), and company or team name.
- Phone numbers: used only for authentication and security (see below).
- Uploaded content: legal documents (such as rental agreements), property data, photos, and files you store in Tenant Tree.
- Requests and messages:tenant repair requests, internal messages, and related activity.
- Automatic data: device type, browser, IP address, log data, and usage analytics.
Phone Numbers and Two-Step Authentication (2FA)
- We send one-time verification codes by SMS or voice call to help secure your account.
- Phone numbers are used only for authentication and account security, not for marketing.
- We use third-party SMS/voice providers to deliver verification codes. These providers receive the minimum data needed to deliver messages.
- Message and data rates may apply based on your mobile plan.
- You can enable or disable 2FA in your account settings unless your organization requires it.
How We Use Information
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Tenant Tree platform.
- Secure accounts, verify identity, and prevent fraud or abuse.
- Deliver service-related messages such as security alerts, document updates, and support responses.
- Monitor performance, reliability, and usage trends.
How We Share Information
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We share data with trusted service providers that help us run the platform (for example, hosting, authentication, analytics, and SMS/voice delivery).
- Tenant data may be visible to assigned property managers or owners based on role-based access.
- We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or security of Tenant Tree, our users, or others.
Data Retention and Security
- We retain information while accounts are active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
- We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect data. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, and we cannot promise absolute security.
Your Rights and Choices
- You can access, correct, or request deletion of your account information by contacting us.
- You can manage your profile details, password, and authentication settings inside the platform.
- If your organization manages your account, some actions may need to be handled by your administrator.
Children's Privacy
Tenant Tree is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can delete it.
International Data Processing
We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. These locations may have different data protection laws than your home country.
